Introduction

The T greets the S and asks to sit down. The T briefly presents the plan of the lesson.
The S greet the T and take their seats. Listen to the plan of the lesson.
To create a pleasant and friendly atmosphere. To catch the Ss’ attention.

Checking HW

10 min
The T asks to open their workbooks. The T goes round the class and checks whether all the S did their HW. The T marks those who did not do their HW. After that the T asks to read in turns. Corrects pronunciation mistakes.
The S open their workbooks and show their HW. The S start reading in turns. They repeat the words once again if the pronunciation was wrong.
To check the Ss’ understanding. To check how the S worked at home.

Warm – up

The T reminds the S what they did and where they finished during the last lesson. In order to make the introduction to the same topic but not to repeat the same things, the T asks to open their workbooks at  pg. 106 and look at the example of a formal letter. The T asks one of the S to read the letter out lout. After that the T goes through the vocabulary together ith the S. Then, the T disscusses all the parts of the formal letter together ith the S.
The S listen to what the T is saying about the previuos lesson. The S open their workbooks and find the example of formal letter. One of the S is asked to read it out loud. The S go through the vocabulary together eith the T. After that they start discussing all the essential parts of the formal letter together with the T. The S take notes.
To recall and to to nosolidate e rules on writing formal letters.

The T asks to open their students books and asks to look at exercise 2. The T explains that the S have to match the paragraphs from the letter from ex 1 in which the applicant gives different information. The T asks to work individually and checks after a minute. Asks the S to read in turns.
The S open their books. They look at ex 2 and follo hat the T is saying. The S are working individually, they are orking with the letter. The S are matching the paragraphs which inculde specific information. After that they start reading their ansers out loud/
To develop reading for specific information skills.

(setting phrases for informal/formal letters)

The T  introduces the next task. She explains that the S have to work with lettr again. The exercise contains only informal expressions. The T explains and asks the S to find more formal ways of saying the underlined phrases in the letter. The T asks them to work on their own and checks for the replaced phrases after several minutes.
The S look at ex 3. They are orking on their own for some time with the same letter. The S find more formal ways of saying the same things. They start reading their answers in turns. The S correct te mistakes in case they did some.
To intododuce the phrases for formal/informal letters. To introduce the phrases for the letters of application.

The T presents ex 4. The T asks the S to read the job advert. The T looks through the words together with the S. After that the T asks one of the S to read the advert aloud. Then she asks to think about the qualities and experience the person might need for this kind of job – a hotel receptionist. (The S are asked to work in pairs or just do the task individually).
One of the S is asked to read the advert out loud. The S look at the words together with the T. They translates them too. The S discuss the possible qualities and experience needed for the advertised  job. (They do the task indivdually or in pairs). After some time they share their ideas . 
To encourage the S to use the suitable vocabulary- for example, reliable, hardworking, enjoy dealing with the public and others. To develop speaking skills.

Finally, the T asks to write down the task for their homework. The T asks to look at exercise 5. The T asks the S t eite the formal letter of application and use the plan which is given for them. The T goes through the plan together with the S and asks whethet everything is clear. After that the T asks what they have learnt today. Lastly, the T says goodbye to the S and reminds about the coming quiz.
The S look at ex 5. They write down ahat they have to do for the next time. The S look through the plan together with the T. Ask questions if they have them. Answer the T’s questions. Finally, say goodbye to the T.
To consolidate the rules on writing formal letters. To encourage S to use the formal phrases and expressions. To get feedback.
