Introduction

1-2 min
The T greets the S and asks to sit down. The T briefly introduces the plan of the lesson.
The S greet the T and take their seats. Listen to the plan of the lesson.
To create a pleasant and friendly atmosphere. To catch the Ss’ attention.

Checking HW

10-13 min
The T asks to open their workbooks at pg. 27. The T  chcecks whether  all the S did their HW. Also the T asks to open and show the Word List at the, end of the workbook, the S had to translate. The T starts checking by asking to read in turns. The T corrects the mistakes in case the S had done some. (The T marks and writes minuses for those who did not do their homework).
The S open their workbooks and show their HW. The S start reading in turns and correcting the mistakes at the once.
To check the Ss’ understanding. To check how the S worked at home.

Pronunciation activity

4 min
The T asks to have a look at exercise 6. (The S have to concentrate on the Speaking Tip given in the box). The T asks one S to read it out loud. After that the T explains what they have to do next. She asks them to listen to the recording and repeat the expressions with the correct intonation. The T encourages  the S to exaggerate the intonation that would help them to feel less self-consciuos.
The S concentrate on ex 6. One of the S is asked to read the Speaking Tip. They listen to the recording carefully and try to repeat the phrases with appropriate intonation. The S may try to exaggerate the intonation.
To develop listening skills. To improve the Ss’ pronunciation.

Practice

10 min
The T introduces the two following tasks at once (ex 7/8). The T asks to work in pairs. The T asks to prepare at least 7/8 questions. Then she asks to plan the interview for one of the jobs from the previuos exercises. Also the T encourages to use questions and work-related vocabulary from the previuos lessons and exercises.
The S join into pairs. They decide who is the employer and who is the applicant. The S invent 7/8 questions for the interview. They choose the job they are going to talk about. The S try to use active vocabulary as much as they can. Also they use questions from the other exercises.
To use the questions and aswers for a job interview in practice. To use the work-related vocabulary in practice.

Speaking activity

The T chooses sevarl pairs to act out their interviews in front of the class. After that she asks the other part of the class to vote on whether the applicant gets the job. Before the S start acting their dialogues, the T reminds them about the intonation in order to sound more interesting and interested. * The T evaluates the S who acted out their dialogues for a mark.
Sveral pairs act out their dialogues while the rest of the class listen carefully and decide/vote on whether the interviewee gets the job.
To develop speaking skills. To use the questions, answers and the new words in practice.

Introduction to the new topic

The T asks to open their books at pg 31. She introduces the new topic which is A Job Application. The T asks about the translation. After that the T asks to look very quickly through the letter they have. The T asks about the structure of the formal letters. The T asks the S: 1) how they should start formal letters. 2) how they end them, 3) here they write the date and how they do that, 4) where they write their address and 5) where they write their signature if they type their letter.
The S listen to the T and translates the title into Lithuanian. They pu it down. Then the S look through the letter of application and start answering the T’s questions. They take notes too.
To the Ss’ attention. To recall the rules on riting the formal letters.

The T sets HW for the next time. She asks to put it don. After that she asks what they have learnt today. Finally, the T says goodbye to the S.
The S write down their HW for the next time. They answer the T’s questions and tell what they have learnt. Finally, the S say goodbye to the T.
